San Candido

San Candido (1,170m above sea level) lies in the middle of the family-friendly Sesto Dolomites Nature Park. The market township has about 3,200 inhabitants and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the South Tyrolean Upper Val Pusteria valley.

The San Candido municipality includes the main village San Candido, Versciaco, Prato alla Drava and Monte San Candido which all were separate municipalities until 1929. Main attractions in San Candido are the main church, the most beautiful Romanesque church in the southern German area and the Saint Michael’s Church, one of the most wonderful Late Baroque churches in South Tyrol. Don’t forget to visit the monastery museum and the Dolomythos museum which tells visitors everything about the Dolomites.

Go shopping in the small but beautiful village centre and give yourself a treat in one of the bars or restaurants.
