The Dolomites in summer

Innichen/San Candido: trekking, cycling and other activities

The mountain wonderland of the Dolomites in summer offers everything the heart desires: climbing, mountaineering and walking. From gentle footpaths through alpine forests, to challenging climbing routes, there is something for everyone - you cannot help but feel inspired.

If you are a keen swimmer you can take advantage of one of the many lakes in the area or you can visit the nearby pool in Innichen/San Candido. There are countless choices for cyclists and mountain bikers too: from right in front of our hotel you can start one of our mountain bike tours, great fun for beginners and professionals alike.

Families particularly enjoy the cross-border cycle route from Innichen/San Candido to Lienz in neighbouring Austria. And the Funbob on the Haunold/Rocca dei Baranci is a great day out for all the family. This summer tobogganing route is just adjacent to the hotel. Take a ride on the longest summer tobogganing path in Italy!

The perfect place for a cultural holiday

Even on rainy days there's an extensive range of activities on offer. The powerful fortress Burg Taufers/Castello di Tures at Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures makes for a fantastic day trip: in the centrally-heated halls you will be treated to Gothic and Roman works of art. The factory of the Loacker company is at Heinfels in East Tyrol and includes a tasting experience. Big or small you will be fascinated by the history of the company, the taste cosmos and the worldwide marketing of the company's products.

And then there is the MMM - Messner Mountain Museum Ripa in the castle Burg Bruneck/Castello di Brunico. Once the summer residence of the Prince-Bishops of Brixen/Bressanone, this space is now dedicated to mountain peoples from all over the world - Asia, Africa, South America and Europe - and to their cultures, their religions and to tourism in these regions.

The MMM - Messner Mountain Museum Corones opened in 2015 in the square known as the Kronplatz/Plan de Corones. It was built buy the famous Architectural star Zaha Hadid, and is currently one of the most visited attractions in the area.

In Bozen/Bolzano there is the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology with the mummy of Ötzi the Iceman, which makes a great excursion in combination with Museion, the museum of modern art.

Our team will be very happy to advise you on recreational activities and put together a tailor made programme to suit your interests and your Dolomites summer holidays.
